On the afternoon of August 19, Zhou Jian, Dean of the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Dong Yuan, Secretary of the Department Party Committee, Yang Jing, Deputy Secretary of the Department Party Committee, Chen Zhuo, Graduate Student Affairs Coordinator, and Hu Wenyue, Graduate Student Affairs Assistant, visited student dormitories for both current and new students. The team gained an in-depth understanding of students’ study and living conditions, and held cordial exchanges with students on dormitory culture development, academic studies, and scientific research.
During the visits, the faculty members inspected multiple dormitories, carefully checking environmental hygiene, electricity safety, and living facilities. They reminded students to maintain healthy living habits, pay close attention to electricity safety, and jointly build a warm and comfortable living environment.
In conversations with students, the teachers inquired about academic progress and research developments with care. They encouraged students to draw on the profound foundation and broad prospects of mathematics, cherish their time, and pursue rigorous academic research. Students were urged to take an active part in academic activities, integrate theory with practice, enhance innovation awareness and research capacity, develop teamwork spirit, and strengthen problem-solving abilities. The teachers also encouraged students to set high aspirations, firm their academic goals, strive for excellence in study and research, and grow into outstanding mathematical talents capable of shouldering important responsibilities in the new era.
This dormitory visit helped the faculty better understand students’ daily life and studies, and further narrowed the distance between teachers and students. Students expressed that the care and encouragement from the teachers made them feel warmly welcomed, and strengthened their confidence and determination to study hard and strive for progress.
