Abstract: In this talk we will primarily present six examples of classical surfaces in different manifolds like R^3, H^3, Nil_3 and S^{n+2}. We will discuss the assumptions for the applicability of the loop group method for these examples, and give a brief outline of the loop group method. These results will be illustrated with the original examples. In the end, time permitting, we will mention some new examples of surfaces, obtained using the loop group method.
